USING OVERLAYS
Using the Swings Overlay
Swings
To add the Swing overlay to a chart, right mouse click on any price chart to access the Pop-up Menu. Next, slide the cursor down to the "Add Overlay" and then glide over to "Swings" and select it with a left mouse click. The overlay appears immediately.
The swing points (blue boxes) are selected using a proprietary Algorithm. The colored lines are referenced to a previous high or low and the swing under analysis has met the criteria of measuring Breaks (indicated by Red and Green Lines) or Tests (indicated by Blue and Yellow Lines). The percentage criteria can be seen in a Tool Tip by placing the mouse pointer over the break or test in the stock legend bar.

Note: 1. The 3% test value and the 10% volume value are defaults. For the purpose of this documentation, these default values are used. The user may change these to meet their analysis criteria.
2. The text boxes and arrows in the above chart were created by using StockShareV2's 'Text Annotation' and 'Trend Line' features.
Breaks
A Break indicates the swing day's price has been exceeded. A break on volume (Green Line) indicates that a new high has been set and the volume on that day exceeded the swing day by at least 10%. A break on less volume (Red Line) indicates that the price criteria exceeded the swing's price but the volume was lower than the swing day's volume plus 10%.
Note: A break on volume will not occur if the previous day's volume exceeds the current day's volume even if all other volume criteria of the selected swing day is met.
Tests
A Test means that the price is within 3% of the swing day's price. A test on volume (Blue Line) indicates that the price is less than, but within, the 3% criteria and volume has met or exceeded the 10% criteria. A test on less volume (Yellow Line) indicates that the price is less than, but within, the 3% criteria and the volume criteria was not met.
To remove a Swing overlay, right mouse click on the chart and select the item you wish to remove. This is done by choosing the color box indicator that matches the analysis the user wishes to remove from the chart. Click the "X Remove" button to actually remove the analysis from the chart. All reference to this calculation will be removed from the chart.

To the right of this dialog box, the top two (2) check boxes allow the user to turn off (uncheck) or on (check) the Break and/or Test lines on the chart. The Hide Future Swings box is to be used in conjunction with the Back test date. Using the N-Day Price Channel and Displaced N-Day Price Channel
Similar to Bollinger Bands, price channels form boundaries above and below the price line and can be used as indicators of volatility. Price channels are created by specifying a number of periods that will chart an n-period high or low around the price line. For example, a 20-day price channel will chart the level of the highest close in the last 20 days above the price line, and will chart the level of the lowest close in the last 20 days below the price line. If the most recent price is a new n-period high or low, it will be charted outside of the price channel. Price channels differ from Bollinger Bands in that they use maximum and minimum price values instead of moving averages as boundaries.
Price channels can be used on daily, weekly, or monthly charts and can generate buy/sell signals at points of breakouts. When the price line breaks above or below the upper or lower price channel respectively, a new high or low becomes present. When the price breaks above a 20-day price channel, the price has reached a 20-day high and could potentially begin an uptrend.
To Add the Price channel overlay onto a chart, right mouse click on any price chart to access the Pop-up Menu. Next, slide the cursor down to the "Add Overlay" and then glide over to "Overlay Plugins" and then glide over to "N Day Price Channels" and select it with a left mouse click.
