USING EDIT VIEW MENU

Edit View Menu

You can access WEB pages that are general in nature, such as Upgrades or Downgrades for the day. You can also reference the Symbol displayed in the StockShareV2 symbol box and return stock specific data. For example, if the user has a preferred site that makes available Point and Figure Charts, he/she can modify the address in the Edit View Menu to return the Point and Figure Chart for the stock under analysis. Even though they are not placed in StockshareV2 Tabs or Chart Pages, the user can have a new browser page generated for each site and therefore quickly access the data (like using a Tab) from the "Start" Menu Bar in Windows.

Note: Unlike a StockShareV2 tab, which is referenced to the Symbol under investigation, you MUST ensure the WEB pages are referenced to a newly selected symbol by re-accessing the stock specific WEB pages when a new symbol is introduced.

As stated earlier, the View Menu in the Menu Bar allows access to user preferred sites on the Internet. If there is a preferred site that presents stock data or information that the user wishes to use during technical analysis, he/she can do so by way of the View Menu Editor located in the Edit Menu to set up access from StockShareV2. This is like setting up "Favorites" in a Web Browser.  In the figure below, you can see some of the data sites that have been setup as StockShareV2 defaults. These sites will be listed in the View Menu and can be accessed by clicking on the item.

In the figure above, if the user has a preferred site that makes available Telescan Ratings, he/she can modify the address in the Edit View Menu to display the Telescan Ratings for the stock under analysis.  The user does this by changing the URL with the appropriate direction.  In this example, the URL has been changed to request "[SYM]", which indicates that the URL should automatically reflect the current symbol that is selected for analysis in the StockShareV2 program.  This View Menu Editor also allows the user to customize the View Menu to add or delete a "Menu Item", "Sub Menu", or a "Separator".  The "Separator" is a line that shows a break between Menus.  The user can further customize the View Menu by moving Menus, Sub Menus, or Separators up or down through the Editor.

Additionally, if the user wishes to look at only one (1) site, then there is no need to check the box "Launch a new browser window". However, if there are two (2) desired sites that the user wishes to view, checking this box for the second site will allow the first site to re-use its window and the 2nd will generate a new window.  This is a hint to StockShareV2 to try to use an existing browser.

Note:  In order to save any changes to the format of the View Menu Editor, click "OK".  Otherwise, all changes made will be lost and the previous values will be returned.

Remember, when changing to a new symbol in StockShareV2, in order to view any selected data through the View Menu Items, the user MUST re-select that View Menu option.

Adding a New View Menu Item

Example:  If the user selects to get Telescan Ratings: from wallstreetcity.com, then the following URL would be placed via the browser into the View Menu Editor.

http://host.wallstreetcity.com/wsc2/tscn_rankings.html?template=tscnrank.htm&Symbol=ri (via Browser)

To change the stock symbol so that the Menu selection automatically returns data for the current stock symbol being analyzed in StockShareV2, the user would change the "ri" in the URL to "[SYM]".  The URL would then look like the one below:

http://host.wallstreetcity.com/wsc2/Tscn_Rankings.html?template=tscnrank.htm&Button=Get+Report&Symbol=[SYM(via StockShareV2)

Now when you select "Telescan Ratings" under the View menu, the data for the symbol in the symbol box in StockShareV2 will be displayed.

Note: These instructions apply to those sites which are stock specific and which have been placed in the top portion of the View Menu. Other sites that are "about" the Market, but not a specific stock, will have unmodified URL(s) and therefore, display general market data NOT related to the symbol in the symbol box. Example: CNN Money.

Launch a program application as a View item

Example:  This example will show the user how to set up the View Menu Editor with information to launch the Note Pad program. For this example we have called the file title "Stock Notes". This will allow the user to open and maintain notes for each stock symbol. Here are the steps to follow:
